Background
The Pennsylvania Transportation Resource and Information Network (PennTRAIN) provides resources, training,.and technical assistance to public and community transportation systems throughout Pennsylvania. PennTRAIN was established in 1989 as part of the Pennsylvania Rural Technical Assistance Program (RTAP).
Penn TRAIN is administered by the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association and is jointly funded by the Pennsylvania Rural Transportation Assistance Program (RTAP) and The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Planning and Research Program.
PennTRAIN Vision
PennTRAIN's mission is to enhance the professional skills of people who work in public transportation, to improve the safety and comfort of people who use public transportation and to improve the overall performance and image of public transportation in Pennsylvania. PennTRAIN accomplishes this mission by providing Pennsylvania's public transportation industry with access to the highest quality resources available, with professional training in convenient locations and with technical assistance based on proven methods and innovative techniques.
Who May Use Penn TRAIN ?
Anyone working in public or community transportation may use PennTRAIN's services. Rural, urban, fixed route, shared ride public services or private transportation companies working for public entities are encouraged to participate in PennTRAIN programs. Increased use of PennTRAIN services enhances the quality of all aspects of the program.
